MINDS-Henry Environmental Innovation Award

MINDS

MINDS is the acronym for Malaysian Invention and Design Society headed by Founding President, Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Augustine Ong. It can be said that MINDS is synonymous with Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Augustine Ong who is still the driving force behind the society.

Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Augustine Ong was serving as Dean of the School of Chemical Sciences, University Science Malaysia. He then served as the Director-General of the Palm Oil Research Institute of Malaysia (PORIM) from 1987 to 1989 and Director in Science and Technology, Malaysian Palm Oil Promotion Council (MPOPC) from 1990 to 1996. He was largely credited the countering the smear campaign of the 1980s by the American Soybean Association.

Academically, Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Augustine Ong is widely recognized in Malaysia and internationally in the field of lipid Chemistry He was the Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry London, Senior Fellow of the Academy of Sciences, Malaysia, Fellow of the Third World Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the International Society for Fat Research (ISF) in 1997, President of the Malaysian Oil Scientists' and Technologists' Association. He has also the Fulbright-Hays Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) 1966 to 1967. He spent a sabbatical year in the University of Oxford as the Visiting Professor at the Dyson Perrins Laboratory, 1976 to 1977.

Henry Goh

Henry Goh is one of the first, and if I am not wrong, the first Intellectual Properties company in Malaysia. They started in a small nondescript office, but have since grown pretty big.
